My grandmother is the main reason I followed my passion and became a licensed massage therapist. While I was the weaker grandchild and could never sit beside her during dialysis, the best conversations were while I massaged her feet while she recovered at home. Randomly I would be told "there's something in your hands, it always feels better when you massage them! Do something with your hands" (in Gujarati of course). I still remember the day I told Ma that I wanted to but I was told it's not a profession that a Indian girl should be doing, her reaction was one I still can think about and smile at. After being in the hospitality field for 10 years, I felt like there was still a part of me that longed to make my passion for massage therapy a reality. While I still worked full time as a general manager at a corporate owned hotel, I enrolled in a massage therapy program and became a licensed massage therapist. It took about a year to complete the transition from a general manager to a massage therapist, and about another year and a half to actually fulfill a promise of 12 years to not only to follow a passion but to keep a promise I once made to my grandmother & open doors of Shanti Healing on May 8th, 2015 in Southern California. I ran my business for 2.5 years before my lovely husband and I tied the knot which led to my relocation to the Bay Area.
As much as I enjoy delicious food, wine and sporting events, nothing beats the feeling of being a part of my clients healing process. I provide therapeutic care and knowledge about health, self-care, wellness, and massage. It is a daily challenge to stay positive and healthy for every single one of us, which can and will affect our bodies, home, work, family and everyone we encounter.
